Licensed Psychologist - Chicago, Illinois - Telehealth Statewide

Handling Everything Isn't the Same as Being Okay.

I'm Dr. Erica Berg, a licensed clinical psychologist. I work with adults across Illinois, via telehealth, on anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, and eating disorders. Most of my clients are used to being the capable one. Here, you don't have to hold it together.

Evidence-Based Therapy in Chicago

Some sessions give you a tool you can use that same week. Some give you room to finally say what's been building up. You need both, and this is how I do it.

Tools You Can Use

When it's useful, we build strategies for anxiety, overwhelm, and holding boundaries that fit your actual life, not a generic worksheet.

Someone on Your Side

I'm not here to judge you or call you out. I'm here to understand how you got here and help you move forward.

— What's Really Going On

Tired of Feeling This Way?

On paper, things look fine. You go to work. You answer the texts. You keep it moving.

Inside, it's a different story. The worry doesn't turn off. The same fight, the same spiral, the same stuck feeling keeps coming back.

Does this sound familiar?

You're sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. You've tried things, and nothing has stuck.

You've tried to fix it yourself. Podcasts, self-help, pushing through.

You've looked up therapists before. You closed the tab. You told yourself it wasn't serious enough.

Here's what I want you to know. Some of my clients look fine on the outside. Others feel like life is falling apart. You're welcome here either way, and you don't have to wait for a crisis to get support.

I know how much courage it takes to look for a therapist. Most of my clients waited a long time before reaching out. Almost all of them wish they didn't wait.

I've been a psychologist in Chicago for 20 years. I trained at Northwestern University's Counseling and Psychological Services and spent years in offices near Millennium Park and in Evanston before moving fully online. Today I see clients across Illinois.

When we work together, you can expect:

  • To say what's actually going on, without dressing it up

  • A therapist who is warm, direct, and on your side

  • To go at your pace, because trust comes first

  • A plan built for your situation, not a script

Many clients find the work more grounded than they expected, less about analysis, and more about meaningful change. What that looks like is different for each person.

— Take the First Step —

Ready to Talk? There's No Pressure.

Taking the first step isn't easy. You don't need to have the right words or a clear sense of what you need; that's part of what we'll work out together. Reach out by phone or email to schedule your first session.

How to Get Started With Telehealth Therapy in Illinois

You don't have to have it figured out before you reach out.

Reach out

Call or email to schedule your first session. I'll send a short intake form ahead of time so we can use our time together well.

We meet

In our first sessions, we'll get to know each other. I'll ask about what's going on for you, and this is also your chance to see whether I'm a good fit.

We begin, if it feels right

After those first sessions, the choice to continue is yours. My goal is for you to feel comfortable and confident that we're a good fit before we move forward together.

— The Work We Do Together

Out of the Woods and Into the Sunlight

In twenty years of practice, I have seen that when people have real support and real tools, the pressure they have been carrying does not disappear. They begin meeting it differently.

For some clients, that looks like perfectionism loosening its grip enough to let a project be finished instead of endlessly revised. For others, it is the ability to hold a boundary with a parent or partner without spending the rest of the day recovering from it. Many describe simply being able to sit with a difficult feeling without needing it to go away right away.

Change like this rarely happens all at once. For most of my clients, it is gradual. At some point, things are different in a way they did not fully see coming.
